Mental Health Program Supervisor
Location: Chicago, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: CEO
Job Summary:
The Licensed Practitioner of Healing Arts is responsible for
ensuring high-quality service delivery, overseeing day-to-day
operations of the assigned unit, and leading a team of mental
health therapists and service staff. This role involves supervising
staff, optimizing program effectiveness, ensuring compliance with
clinical and documentation standards, and implementing improvements
to enhance client outcomes. Additionally, the LPHA will provide
direct clinical services as needed and oversee Illinois Medicaid
Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths (IM+CANS)
submissions.
This position is ideal for an experienced mental health
professional with strong leadership abilities who is passionate
about providing quality mental health care in a community
setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and manage a team of mental health therapists, ensuring
quality clinical care and adherence to agency policies.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and make
recommendations for employment actions.
- Lead team meetings, case consultations, and training sessions to
support professional development.
- Direct daily operations of the assigned unit, including
scheduling meetings, services, and staff assignments.
Program Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Ensure service delivery meets clinical and documentation
standards, regulatory requirements, and agency policies.
- Monitor IM+CANS submissions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and
timely reporting.
- Recommend and implement program improvements to enhance
efficiency and client outcomes.
- Maintain communication across service components to ensure
continuity of care.
- Participate in agency committees, work groups, and other
organizational initiatives.
Clinical Services
- Provide direct mental health services, including individual
therapy, as needed.
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and ensure
evidence-based interventions are utilized.
- Offer crisis intervention services and de-escalation support when
required.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure adherence to the State Mental Health Code, agency
policies, and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure staff
compliance with record-keeping requirements.
- Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and
law enforcement to enhance service coordination.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a
related mental health discipline required.
- LCSW, LCPC, PhD, or equivalent state licensure required.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of three years of experience in mental health or human
services.
- At least one year of supervisory experience in a clinical or
community mental health setting.
- Expertise in crisis intervention, assessment, and working with
individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
- Strong ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of
professionals.
- Knowledge of IM+CANS, Medicaid regulations, and community mental
health systems.
- Familiarity with community resources, legal systems, and public
health services.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving
skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional
evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages).
- Experience managing mental health programs, crisis services, or
co-occurring disorders.
- Certification in trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, or other
specialized modalities.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Office, telehealth, and community-based service settings.
- Ability to travel between 3 clinic locations and a headquarters
office around Chicagoland on a weekly basis
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a
computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
