Job Description:
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Program
Assistant for the Libya Engagement with Voters for Equitable
Representation (EVER). The Program Assistant will support the
coordination and implementation of day-to-day activities of the
Libya EVER program. This is a full-time position based in Tripoli,
Libya and is only open to Libyan citizens.Libya EVER supports
Libya's democratic transition by enhancing the effectiveness of key
Libyan institutions and empowering diverse Libyan actors to foster
an inclusive democratic culture. DI will promote locally led
solutions through co-creation with the High National Election
Commission (HNEC), civil society, and USAID, thereby contributing
to a more sustainable, unified, and democratic Libya that
inclusively represents its citizens.The Program Assistant will
support the coordination and implementation of day-to-day
activities of the Libya EVER program. The tasks to be completed
under this SOW are as follows:
- Assist the Program Manager and DCOP with the day-to-day
activities of the program and provide support in the planning,
design and implementation of the program.
- Coordinate meetings and training activities, including
logistics, for DI's activities with organizations promoting and
working for democratic development in Libya.
- Maintain and update contact lists and calendars of events.
- Prepare and distribute supporting materials for training and
consultations.
- Provide interpretation services for international staff in
meetings, consultations, and training.
- Provide oral and written translation from English to Arabic and
vice versa.
- Provide back-up administrative and logistical support as
needed. Support effective financial management of program
activities. Facilitate the collection of backup/supporting
documentation, including invoices, receipts, or sign-in sheets, for
financial reporting.
- Work irregular hours, including weekends, as needed with the
ability to travel.
- Provide regular training reports and updates on the political
landscape of the country.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience supporting international or medium to
large-scale projects in Libya required.
- Experience working with electoral institutions, civil society
programs, civil society groups preferred.
- Experience implementing USAID or other international donor
programming preferred.
- Knowledge of electoral processes preferred.
- Capacity to work well both independently and as a member of a
team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deadline
oriented.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic are
required.Reporting:
- The Program Assistant will report to the Program
